Sing-a-long Sound of Music?

For one of our last 'events' of 2016, Duncan and I went to "Sing-a-Long Sound of Music" at the Vic Theatre.

Yes, we had our goody bag of items to use (eidelwise, fabric from the curtains, problem cards, invite to the gala, and a firecracker for when maria and captain finally kiss!).  Duncan and I sang along all the way, booing at the nazis, and hissing at the baroness (i felt a bit sad at that since i always think she is just misunderstood... and she is the character i had always most wanted to BE!)

There was a big law school turn out (the dean [and his partner], two associate deans, a retired associate dean, the [goddess] administrative assistant, two faculty members, and two Fraser building kids!)  Maybe the 'sing-a-long' tradition is part of what makes the UVic law difference?

Can't believe i didn't get pictures of Gillian's and Yvonne, both of whom dressed in character!

Magic in the Air - the return flight from Calgary to Victoria

I had a wonderful 10 days in Calgary this December, between the last day of classes, and the day the students had to write the Crim Law midterm.  That was an adventure in itself, already reported on by Arta on the Larchhaven blog. 

The flight home to Victoria (via Vancouver) was something else.  One of those rare days where the clouds were sparse, and the terrain was laid out below like a blanket.  All I could say was, "Wow" (and keep snapping photos on my phone).  So... here they are, for me to remember (including that the view is through the window of an airplane!)

And so we arrive in Vancouver...

And now back into the air for the 14 minute flight from Vancouver to Victoria

Morning walks up PKOLS

PKOLS.  What an awesome hill to live so close to!  While I am lazy by nature, I am appreciative of those around me (largely Val Napoleon) who manage to motivate me to move my butt in the morning.  The walk through the woods up to a little knoll gives an amazing viewpoint!   It doesn't matter what time of day it is, the view is soul nourishing.  Here is a collection of photos from those walks.

So many shades of green springing from and clinging to the rock.  The moss is amazingly soft.

The word 'lush' just doesn't quite capture it.  this IS in the fall, after all....
