On April 25, I got a new hip! Only 12 hours in the hospital, and I was back home in bed, and set up for 6-8 weeks of 'recovery'.

My 'art table' set up |
At week 4, I decided I needed to find something additional to occupy my brain. And so, I decided to set the goal of 30 or so minutes of daily 'art practice' (something i could do while sitting at the table).
I did take some lessons last year with Stacy, but this past year, our class time conflicted with Lawyer's on Stage. So... now to return. I decided to go back and retake some of the the online lessons I did: Scott Swinson,"Watercolour Landscapes for Beginners". Love those classes!

Simple Seasape Lesson |
Today, rather than doing another lesson, I went back through 3 pieces I started a year ago and then abandoned. My first impulse was to throw them away (yes, i know i am a chicken), but decided i might as well just see if i could go back in and apply some of what i was learning in the lessons, but without having one of those lessons as a 'referent'. It was fun practicing!
So, this was week one. We will see if i can stick at it for another week!
I have been doing gardening for the creative practice. Sometime as I am planting, I just sit and stare a the dirt. For a good amount of time. Letting myself not be overtaken with thoughts from my brain criticizing me for not being productive. it's OK to just sit and look. And even to walk away without having done anything. I love getting a glimpse of your painting adventure.
