Stacy and I, 'eyes wide open' at beauty of the night
Saturday night, Duncan asked me to drop him and a friend off at the Board Game Cafe down town. Seemed a good excuse to pick up my friend Stacy, to share the ride down and back (an excuse for conversation).
I was focused on the goose, a nearly missed the real show...
Once downtown, she suggested we stop for a coffee, so we headed over to the bridge to the Delta Ocean Pointe, since they have a restaurant that looks out over the harbour (a lovely place to while away an hour or two).
We arrived, and started a stroll from the parking lot to the hotel. As I had my camera out to take photos of the geese, a couple mentioned to us that there was an otter out on the rock in the harbour.
The seagull and the otter sharing the rocks
I could not see it myself, but the zoom function on the camera brought it right into view. I would have tried for a few more shots, but that is the moment that the battery on the camera gave up the ghost for the night. Bummer. Thus, a return to my phone camera.
Though we had no reservation, they did have one table available, right by the window, looking out over the harbour. Yes, a grey and cloudy day, but still so much fun watching the life of a working harbour, including float planes, harbour taxis, and even a tug boat directing a big barge across the harbour.
And best of off all, the magic as the sun went down, the sky shifted from grey to deeper blue, and the evening lights began to light up. It always reminds me a bit of the opening scenes from Spirited Away (which, if you haven't seen, you should!). So, these photos are taken with my camera, and through the window (and so are a bit blurry... but still....)

I know it is a bit 'Disney', but I love how the legislature is lit up at night.
And the blue bleeds away, leaving us with the gorgeous dark night sky
I love how the lights are reflected in the harbour water
Here is a (choppy) video of the view from the patio as we were about to head home.
